Account Buyers - are they genuine?
We've all seen the account buyers in the port cities. We all know they're Asian gold-farmers who use the accounts to farm gold and sell it in real life for subsistence. But do you really get paid for the accounts you buy? And if so, do you get caught?
Please take note here that I am completely against RWT and would never sell a real account and add to the problem. But just today, I saw an account-buyer advertising the usual, and on top of that, he was buying Nightfall Buddy Keys for 50K. A quick 50K, I thought to myself. Is it okay? He can't actually farm Gold with it; all they use the trial accounts for is to make more account-buying bots. It's illegal to sell accounts, but a Buddy Key isn't really an account, because it can't interact with other people and expires after 14days/10hours, so is selling a Buddy Key technically selling an account? Is it morally wrong, since technically you're not adding to the problem by giving them a farm-able account? Can you get caught for it? And most of all, do you actually get paid? I wouldn't think they continuously buy accounts if they never pay people for them. Obviously, if people keep selling them accounts, they must be getting paid, right? Or are there deeper levels of game-law I'm not comprehending here? |

Ask yourself this does it sound legit answer in short is no i had friends who fell for it they say that they will log onto your account and add the money when they are buying the trial what they are really trying to do is steal your account in the process cause think even if they log onto your account they would still have to trade the account the gold. So in SHORT DO NOT TRY TO DO IT just /report them take a screenie and let anet handle them.

Simple answer: Account Buyers use trial accounts. You cannot trade with Trial accounts. If you give them your info, how are they to pay you?
Simple logic, I gave my brother a trial account, and he couldnt trade with me when he got good drops, for me to hold onto them, rather than them "expiring". |

Account buyers and account sellers are 99.999% of the time scammers. Just report and ignore them.

Hell I wouldnt buying an account for in game gold so that I could have some extra mules but I think anyone selling an account or buying an account for the most part is trying to scam someone out of their account or gold. And why would anyone want a trial account anyways.

But anyway, it would be counter-productive for them to try to not pay you. In that case, word would get around that they don't. 50k may seem like a lot of gold, but they could probably farm several million gold with the account, so it's small change. And, in spite of some of the less-than-rational replies you've gotten, it would be simple for them to pay you from the account (player) that originally did the advertising. The big thing you need to concern yourself with is that, when/if the gold farmer gets discovered, it's easy for ANet to search the logs for anyone the farmer's contacted to buy accounts, and then ban them too - this means you! |

Much more likely, they rely on the steady stream of suckers born every minute. After all, people still fall for the "magic place to duplicate your items by dropping them on the ground," even though no one falls for it twice. Moreover, if someone does fall for the "give us your username and password, and we'll deposit the 50k in your account" bit, then that person loses their ability to spread the word about the scam along with their account. |

It doesn't matter if they are honest or not, it's against the EULA to buy or sell your guild wars account.
